Lot Line Adjustment

A Lot Line Adjustment, also known as a Boundary Line Adjustment, is the process used to change the property lines between existing legal parcels. Parcels can be modified, reconfigured, or combined — provided the total number of parcels remains the same or fewer than what existed before the adjustment. If the goal is to increase the number of parcels, a formal subdivision process is required.

Lot Line Adjustments are governed by state statute and local agency regulations, and involve detailed legal descriptions, boundary analysis, mapping, and coordination with government agencies. CA5 has extensive experience navigating the process and working with municipalities throughout California to achieve efficient, accurate Lot Line Adjustment approvals.
